Lounge chair

PHOENIX

The idea of designing a lounge chair came naturally, driven by an admiration for Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona chair — a piece regarded as one of the pinnacles of modern design. From this personal impulse emerged a creation where the creative gesture aligns with a process deeply rooted in local production. The formal starting point was shaped around a craft from a nearby manufacturer: bumping. This technique of metal shaping, mastered by one of my manufacturing partners, allowed me to explore materiality in its full fluidity. The result: a sculptural chair, both inviting and structured, that reflects the dialogue between the memory of design and contemporary language. Every facet, every tension in the structure, speaks to the desire to merge aesthetics, comfort, and rootedness.
