Habitat 67

Unit 622

Unit 622 is composed of two prefabricated blocks arranged in a T-shape at the intersection of which the living space is structured. The junction of the concrete blocks was left bare to highlight the assembly of the building. The original construction scribbles, untouched for 50 years, are now revealed.

The Habitat 67 surroundings inspired the design of the space. Given the location on the Saint-Lawrence river, where it can get windy and isolated during the winter months, the material and colour palette was kept minimal to enhance light quality and tactile warmth. Rainville Sangaré outfitted the space with raw finishes such as hot rolled steel, concrete and yellow zinc plated accessories.
